Portland Trail Blazers
In Portland, you'll find NBA basketball just minutes from downtown.
A beloved local institution, the Portland Trail Blazers were the 1977 NBA champions, and have made the playoffs in 29 of their 46 seasons — including 21 consecutive appearances from 1983–2003.
Founded in 1970, the Blazers have always called Portland home — and they have the lifelong fans to prove it. In 1995 the Blazers set the record for most consecutive sellout home games at 814, a mark that still stands today.
The Blazers have fielded six Hall of Famers, including Bill Walton, Clyde Drexler, Arvydas Sabonis and Scottie Pippen. Four Blazers have been named NBA Rookie of the Year, with the most recent nods going to Brandon Roy (2007) and the team’s current point guard Damian Lillard (2013). Former team captain, power forward/center LaMarcus Aldridge, made the NBA All-Star team in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.
The Blazers play at the Moda Center, just across the Willamette River from downtown, accessible via all MAX light rail lines and within walking distance of the Oregon Convention Center. If you don’t have a ticket, or if the team’s on the road, you can always catch the game at Spirit of 77, the homegrown sports bar named for the Blazers’ championship year.
The NBA season runs from October–April. See the Blazers season schedule.
